I have been waiting for this album to drop for a while, and now that November 10th is almost here, it is time for me to get my review on and give you the complete low-down on Wale’s upcoming freshman LP titled, Attention: Deficit. I have been awaiting it’s release since I found out about it, and I am sure that this LP will go hard. I haven’t really given a listen to any of the leaked material thus far, primarily because I want to give the whole album a listen once it comes out. My friends asked me why I am so hyped for this upcoming LP, and because of this, I decided that I should just give you all the low down about it in one solid Preview Review post! So check it out, leave your comments and thoughts, and as always, spread the love around and share the post!
First off, let’s just start off with the crazy sickness that is the cover of Wale’s upcoming LP. I am not going to lie to anyone, I am stoked for the album and the cover just shows me that the LP is going to go hard. Like I said in the Mike Posner review, you can tell a lot about a musician just based off the album artwork they have. Someone who doesn’t put the time (and if you are a big star, the money) into a solid cover, then it not only sends the wrong messages to fans, but it also lowers the hype and shows that you just don’t care about the work that you put in. This is the opposite for Wale’s LP, as you can see above, this cover itself is just crazy dope boy fresh. The graphics are crazy, and the concept of the album cover is just dope. I really like it, and I think that this was just one of the signs why the album is going to be so great!
Second, let’s just go over the track listing…
1. Triumph (Prod. Dave Sitek)
2. Mamma Told Me
3. Mirrors (Feat. Bun B) (prod. Mark Ronson)
4. Pretty Girls (Feat. Gucci Mane & Weensey (of Backyard Band)) (prod. Best Kept Secret)
5. World Tour (Feat. Jazmine Sullivan) (prod.Cool & Dre)
6. Let It Loose (Inhibitions) f. Pharrell Williams (prod. The Neptunes)
7. 90210 (prod. Mark Ronson)
8. Shades f. Chrisette Michele (prod. 9th Wonder)
9. Chillin’ f. Lady Gaga (prod. Cool & Dre)
10. TV In The Radio f. K’Naan (prod. Dave Sitek)
11. Contemplate (prod. Syience)
12. Diary f. Marsha Ambrosius
13. Beautiful Bliss f. Melanie Fiona & J.Cole (prod. DJ Green Lantern & Mark Ronson)
14. Prescription
iTunes Bonus Tracks:
15. Center of Attention (Artistic Integrity 2)
16. My Sweety
17. Be Right
Now that we have done that, let’s just break this whole thing down to the nitty gritty. If we take a look at the producing group for the album, you will see that Wale has got some great guys producing the beats for this sucker. Mark Ronson, for one, is one of the best producers in the game. On top of that, Wale has Cool & Dre, DJ Green Lantern, The 9th Wonder, and The Neptunes. You think that’s crazy? Let’s take a look who he has featured on the album… I am just going to throw out these names, and you tell me what you think. Bun B, Gucci Mane, J. Cole, K’Naan, Jazmine Sullivan, & Pharrell. I think that for a freshman release, that’s a pretty crazy lineup! On top of that, Wale is gracing his fans with a total of fourteen tracks, and if you get it on iTunes, you can get an extra three tracks! What more could a fan ask for!?
There is only one thing that bothers me about this upcoming album… I hate to say it, but I lied a bit above, but not really. I had gotten word of a Wale x John Mayer track that had leaked on the web that was not going to be on the upcoming LP. Me being me, I downloaded it, gave it a run through, and I have been listening to it non-stop for the past couple of days! I don’t see why this track isn’t making the cut, but for whatever the reason is, it is not. I would advise to all Wale fans and John Mayer fans to go check out that track somewhere on the internet, and hopefully he will release the track soon as maybe a secret bonus track on the album!
