Here’s what we’ve all been waiting for. From the hall of fame of American Idol winners, it’s my favorite, Carrie Underwood. The Queen of Country presents Play On, an album about love, loss, revenge, and honor. Look out for her; don’t pass up on this, it’s country at its best. I’ll stop the blabbing now and let you get to the songs.
“Cowboy Casanova”
The second you hear this song you wanna bop your head, and tap your feet. It’s got that tangy mix of Rock n Roll and Country. Talkin’ about how irresistible but dangerous country boys can be. He’s like a curse; He’s like a drug. You’ll get addicted to his love. Any cowboy I know would lasso this lil’ lass as fast as a jackrabbit hops through a burnin’ cornfield.
“Quitter”
I tell you something; Carrie Underwood’s sure got a good ass band behind her I love the rythym of her songs. Carrie starts out the song talkin about how every guy up till now have been jerks she had to quit on cause they just didn’t try. She then goes into it about a guy who’s making it impossible for her to quit on, she just doesn’t want to. I really really enjoyed the small guitar picking solo at the end wraps the song up magnificently.
“Mama’s Song”
I love a good family oriented woman. For this song to be as good as it is, you know Carrie Underwood’s gotta have a great relationship with her mama. This song makes Carrie’s voice really shine. And the backup vocals make you feel like you’re in a cathedral. This song will touch your heart and make you wanna call your own mama.
“Change”
Carrie’s got everything; the looks, the talent, she’s a gah dang sweetheart, and she’s a good person in general. She volunteers for PETA, the Humane Society, and the United Service Organization. Her rendition of Motley Crue’s Home Sweet Home – that was played every week on American Idol as contestants were voted off the show – was released as a single with ALL proceeds going to charity. She takes place in celebrity events for charity, has designed a teddy bear for charity, and in 2006 she donated her one-of-a kind Kwiat diamond dress worn during the CMA’s to charity. She’s country music’s Bono! This extremely well written and performed song sells nothing short of her look on life.
“Undo It”
Catchy ass song! Makes you feel bad, the kinda hurt you go through when you’re screwed over in a relationship; gives you that kinda passion for a song like this and of this quality I suppose. But seriously what’s with these beautiful blonde country singers with there nice voices and all, going and getting screwed over by guys. Taylor Swift? Carrie Underwood?! If I even had the slightest chance with these girls they’d be treated like a freakin’ princess, I’d be wrapped around they’re fingers. Back to that passion though, you feel the fire from this song, and you wont wanna Un un un un undo it.
“Songs Like This”
Again! What’s with these guys and not treating these Southern Bells right?? This song has got a lot of that southern country twang that you can tell stems straight from the situation this song describes. Not to mention the lyrics and how straight forward they are, no wonder her words are so vengeful.
“Unapologize”
Sometimes you just gotta tell it how it is. Whether it’s a bad haircut or how you truly feel about somebody, honesty is the best policy. And honestly, this song is a keeper. The lyrics are clever and catchy. Definitely a keeper.
“What Can I Say” (Feat. Sons of Sylvia)
Seriously, What Can I say? I can say that this may be one of the best duets of the year. I could say how well Carries voice meshes with The Sons of Sylvia. I can say how much this song warms my heart and how I’m definitely gonna put it in my chill out music playlist. I can say a lot, but I’ll let y’all speak for yourselves.
“Play On”
It’s been a minute since I’ve heard an actually inspiring song. Play on, when you’re losing the game. Play on, cause you’re gonna make mistakes. It’s always worth the sacrifice; even when you think you’re wrong, so play on, play on. I couldn’t support her opinion any more right now. Great feel, good song for sure.
There’s a quality about Carrie Underwood, something, I have no idea what it is, but it’s something that makes her songs unforgettable. It was real easy to write this review, let me tell ya. It’s because these songs drew me in so well and had me at my best attention. And further more, because of all this, she will be around for many many years to come, I promise you that. So ladies and gentleman, I beg of you, cop this piece, enjoy it, and Play On, cause this little albums receiving an A-.
