Shannon McArthur

My name is Shannon McArthur and I write songs. Yes, I write a lot about girls, primarily I think because I find girls so hard to understand so its always new and exciting for me. Excluding my four years at UNC, I’ve spent all 23 years of my life in Charlotte, NC. I’m the second oldest and least athletic of four boys. I’ve been told that I use the term, “dawg” (not as in a real canine) too much.

As you probably guessed, I spend a lot of time listening to music. I’d have to say my all time favorite band is definitely Blink-182, but I also like other stuff like Keith Urban, Jackson 5, and the Beatles. My brothers are definitely going to give me grief for this, but about a week ago, one of my guitar students got me hooked on Tay Swift and I must say I do enjoy “Fearless” Platinum edition. If I were to pick an all-time favorite TV character, it would definitely be Seth Cohen. Why? Because he is the man. Anyway, back to the music… I spent the majority of my Junior High and High School years playing punk rock and emo music, and it wasn’t until my freshman year at UNC that I started playing acoustic music, the primary reason being that I lived in a dorm and didn’t have a place for a full rock band to practice. Throughout the course of my years in Chapel Hill, I released two acoustic albums, “Learning to Surf” and “Take Life to the Face”.

Though I love writing acoustic music, I’ve always wanted to get back to my roots, not necessarily of emo/punk music, but of having songs with drive, songs that you can roll your windows down and rock out to when you’re cruising down your favorite street, and that’s what “Love Goes On”, is about. Produced in Revolver Studios in Los Angeles, CA, I’m excited about the progress we were able to make in the short week we had to throw everything together. My primary goal for “Love Goes On” was to take the best elements of both acoustic and rock music and combine them. I hope you enjoy!
