Quality vs. Quantity (The Urbanian Speaks Out)

by ICECrush on March 8, 2010

If you haven’t checked out TheUrbanian.com, then you’re really missing out. They have a new layout, two high quality writers with more than just copy-and-paste skills, and really know what they’re doing. Their latest article that caught my eye was entitled, “Quality vs. Quantity”, in which Brad dissects new hip-hop release practices in terms of the multitude of mixtape and album releases, and bash blogs like 2DopeBoyz who post up an insane amount of posts, burying the quality ones under piles and piles of artist video interviews.

Hip-hop blogs, such as 2dopeboyz, almost seem to throw anything and everything on their sites. Do hip-hop fans really need 10 B.o.B interviews a day? There’s no possible way everyone’s favorite two dope boyz listen to and watch everything they post. They even admit to it sometimes on the post. What makes it worst is that the good things they actually do post becomes buried so quickly. The idea of a good blog has simply become a copy-and-paste world where you don’t even have to listen to the product you are promoting. The listener needs a never-ending supply of music, so the more you post, the more popular you are.

TGLR has been thrown off in the whirlwind of mixtape production, but will be getting back to our roots momentarily, posting up quality over quantity, and bringing back opinion posts and TGLR interviews that will make TGLR the most important and freshest hip-hop blog the world has never seen.
