Rickie Jacobs – Air Jacobs

by SoSickWitItYo on September 21, 2010

Man this is a great day for Hip-Hop fans out there.  I am proud to say that Air Jacobs has landed today and is now avaliable for download.  I just want to give a big shout out to my man Rickie Jacobs and congratulate him on a successful release of his mixtape and also give a big shout out to BuckMarleyXXX for all the work he and his team put in.  I got mad respect and love for Mr. Jacobs and I can personally promise everyone out there that this tape is nothing short of EPIC.  It’s a mixtape that I can sit down and grind to from track one to track fifteen (which is not something I can say when it comes to many of the mixtapes that are thrown my way nowadays).  Rickie truly has a knack for making music, and Air Jacobs truly showcases his ability to create lyrics and murder beats.  Anyway, I won’t waste your time and I’ll let you get to the tunes, so check out what Rickie has to say about the tape below and then check out our track-by-track breakdown and then reward yourself with the free mixtape!

Baltimore’s own Rickie Jacobs drops his debut project “Air Jacobs” presented by BuckMarleyXXX.com and Tha Good Life Reviews! The project, filled with all original production, is more than just your average mixtape! Features include 2 Pistols, Rotimi, Artic, Wordsmith and Supe and production credits go to names such as The Awesome Sound, Stir Crazy, J. Black, The Arsenals and more! It’s all about the music over here, so I’ll let the music speak for itself! Enjoy!”

Air Jacobs Track Listing:
Chapter 1 (Prod. DJ Tech-Neek)
Pretty crazy intro track and I am not going to lie, this track just sets the tone for the tape as a whole! A crazy beat from DJ Tech-Neek and definitely introduces the tape as a BANGER.

I’m Grown (feat. BC) (Prod. Artic)
Artic may be one of my new favorite producers. I don’t know how he crafted this beat and I am not going to lie, Rickie’s flow on this track is incomparable to anything else! A truly DOPE track out of the B-More native.

My Time (feat. Rotimi) (Prod. The Awesome Sound)
Rotimi has been on this site before (in case you all don’t remember his “Beautiful Music” single/music video) and he straight up KILLS this track that The Awesome Sound created. This was Rickie’s first single off the tape, so if you’ve heard it before, then you’ll agree with me on how crazy this track is. It truly sounds like some futuristic stuff and Rickie straight kills it. This song has been on repeat on my iTunes for months now, and I am sure it will be an ear-grabber when you first hear it.

Last Flight Ever (feat. Artic)
RATATAT is definitely a great place start when looking to sample music. Rickie crafted this one I believe and he did a great job at that! Not only did he craft the beat, but him and Artic went in and decided to never come out on this beat. The two of them straight killed this track and like “My Time”, this track has been on repeat for a while. I think we need to start getting more Artic tracks on this site, anyone else out there agree?

Defense (Prod. Nano)
Never heard of Nano, but this is a crazy beat. Listen to this song with surround sound and a base and you’ll be rocking out. Rickie really gets his swell on in this track and kills the beat. A VERY solid track and I’ve been listening to it for a while already.

Being Honest (feat. 2 Pistols) (Prod. The Awesome Sound)
The Awesome Sound does it again with another banger and this time Rickie decides to go in with 2 Pistols. You may have seen this track on TGLR a bit earlier on in the year, so I won’t spend too much time on this track. Check it out, it’s a banger and it’s good to see 2 Pistols team up with Rickie Jacobs on this track.

Yes Yes Yall (feat. Wordsmith and Artic) (Prod. DirtWork Productions)
WOW, that’s all I have to say… Well I’ll say a little more then just one word I guess. This track is crazy! I don’t know how Rickie got one of my favorite MC’s out there, but he did it. I am a huge Wordsmith fan, so when he told me he was going to collab with both Wordsmith and Artic on this one, I almost cried. This beat is crazy and Rickie brings the heat on this one.

Dreamers Interlude (Prod. Eca)
Shout Out To Eca Beats. This is one of the crazier interludes I have heard, and Rickie does a great job making this an interesting track instead of just a filler track that doesn’t grab anyones attention.

Invitation (feat. Supe) (Prod. J. Black)
Dang, Rickie sure knows how to woe those ladies! Haha, check out this banger from Mr. Jacobs and Supe and I don’t know where Rickie finds these producers, but J. Black created a sick beat on this one!

Wake Up Call (Prod. Stir Crazy)
Stir Crazy may be one of the sickest producers I have ever seen and when he sent me his beat pack, I didn’t even know what to do. SO many tracks that all were good, and I am sure glad that Rickie decided to go in on one. “Wake Up Call” has been on repeat for a while and I think it’ll be on repeat for a while.

Look at Me Now (feat. Artic) (Prod. Street Heat)
More of an R&B feel on this track, but I still really dig it. Artic on the track with Rickie, I don’t know what more anyone could ask for. The two of them might be my favorite pairing out there. This is no disappointment and you all should for sure check out this track when you download the tape.

FUN (Prod. The Arsenals)
The Arsenals do work, and this is for sure a “FUN” track to give a listen to. Check out this one it isn’t a disappointment.

MarsZ for President (Prod. MarsZ)
SHOUTOUT TO THA GOOD LIFE REVIEWS!!! Haha, thanks for the shoutout Rickie, it is much appreciated! MarsZ crafts a creative one here and Rickie goes in on this beat and tears it up! BuckMarleyXXX shout out on the track as well and if you haven’t seen BuckMarleyXXX yet, get your butts over there after downloading the mixtape!

The End (Prod. The Arsenals)
Some say the end is just the beginning and while this may be the “last” song on the mixtape (yeah, there is a bonus track, but this is technically the last one on the official track listing). I think Rickie has really proven himself on this tape, and I think that after this song, we as fans are really left with no question that the Rickie Jacobs movement has started and is taking off. Air Jacobs has been on the ground for long enough and now it’s time for us to board the plane, take our seats, and get ready for takeoff! This may be the end, but in reality, this tape was just the beginning of Rickie’s dominance!

Gift x Curse (Prod. Brainiac Beats) (Bonus Track)
Braniac Beats on this one, and another shout out to Tha Good Life Reviews. Can’t thank Rickie enough for him showing us love on the cover and two of the tracks! This is a sick bonus track, and I really am vibing with the beat and the whole track.

Overall, Air Jacobs gets an A for style and sound. This is definitely something new for your ears. If you are sick of the same old Hip-Hop and Rap sound, then this tape isn’t for you.  I can safely say that Tha Good Life Reviews 100% endorses this tape for all your ears and we are proud to have our name featured on the cover.  If you enjoy the tape, then pass it on to a friend.  Download the mixtape below and be sure to get at Rickie on Twitter and be sure to download the tape below!
